it's beginning to look a lot like spring.

despite the fact that it has been quite chilly outside. and ok, i admit the frequent rain showers don't exactly scream spring. still rocking the rainboots... but, the birds are chirping. {even at 2.30am.} the trees have leaves. and the daffodils are blooming. the ratio of sandals to rain jackets is changing slightly, in favor of sandals. it even sometimes smells like fresh-cut grass outside. so, yes, it is starting to look like spring here in seattle. don't believe me? look out your window. there. see that patch of blue in the sky? in the words of mister rogers, "it's a beautiful day in this neighborhood."

i just saw a news article today about a 19-year-old girl who staged a hunger strike, in hopes of receiving an invitation to the royal wedding. the good news is, estibalis chavez ended her 16-day fast, after receiving a plane ticket to london from a sympathetic benefactor. the bad news is, chavez "is now in spain with little cash, even less time, but plenty of determination to get to london for the big event on friday." {alicia leon | reuters}

joking aside, of all things to starve yourself over, this girl chooses the royal wedding. frankly, i find that disgusting. not receiving an invitation to the wedding of prince william and kate middleton is in no way comparable to some of the terrible injustices of this world. children starving to death in third world countries. hiv/aids epidemic in africa. the list goes on...

arrested development.

i was recently introduced to arrested development and let me tell you, this show is absolutely hilarious. the kind of funny that makes you laugh out loud. it took me a few episodes to really get into it, but now i can't stop watching! {in fact i definitely did not finish the whole first season this past weekend. i mean, who has time to do that?} the characters are so comical and, frankly, totally nuts. the humor is clever and quirky. no laugh track, documentary-ish feel, lots of inside jokes. {so thank you netflix for making the first three seasons available on instant view. and therefore making it virtually impossible for me to get anything else done.}

watch an SU basketball game at key arena.

i went to exactly one basketball game this year, back in january. {this post is long overdue.} i obviously have a lot of school spirit. actually, i'm just not a huge fan of basketball. i'm much more a football type of girl...go ducks!

my baby sister's all grown up! who is this stunning young lady and what did she do with my little "noodles"? this past weekend was n's senior prom and i was lucky enough to make it home for the weekend. it was so much fun seeing her surrounded by all her beautiful friends and her handsome date. i can't believe this one's heading off to college next year. wow. just wow.
